Ella Baker (11 x 17 Poster print)
Ella Baker was a foundational force in the Black freedom movement whose organizing philosophy centered the collective over the charismatic, the grassroots over the elite. She spent her life building democratic structures that nurtured the leadership of everyday people—especially Black women and youth—insisting that liberation would not come from above, but through the conscious action of the masses. From the NAACP to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and most powerfully in the founding of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Baker’s quiet rigor shaped movements that rejected hierarchy and fostered deep political education. She believed that strong people did not need strong leaders, and challenged the male-dominated, top-down models that often defined struggle. Her patient, behind-the-scenes work laid the foundation for a revolutionary practice rooted in humility, discipline, and deep accountability to the people. Ella Baker’s legacy remains a guide for those committed to building power that is not only radical in its goals, but in its method: organized, collective, and grounded in the lived experiences of the oppressed.

Supporting independent artists cultural workers under capitalism
Making independent art is not without its challenges. It is not cheap, easy, or quick, and it is often not valued in a material sense. However, artists still need to eat and pay rent.
Contemporary art, media and journalistic praxis, and cultural work more broadly are often exploited in building social movements, yet they are often unstable and precarious at best.
This project offers a free library of downloadable zines and other resources, and your support is appreciated! Right now, the project is not yet making enough money to cover the costs of making, printing, and shipping the materials but with your support we'll get there!
