1949: An End to the Neglect of the Problems of the Negro Woman (Claudia Jones)

Claudia Jones's 1949 article "An End to the Neglect of the Problems of the Negro Woman!" was a landmark text in the history of Black feminism. In the article, Jones argued that Black women were facing a unique form of oppression that was rooted in both racism and sexism. She called for the Communist Party to do more to address the specific needs of Black women, and she urged Black women to organize and fight for their own liberation.
