Antonio Gramsci (11 x 17 Poster print)
Antonio Gramsci was a revolutionary thinker and organizer whose work illuminated the cultural and ideological dimensions of class struggle. From his prison cell under Mussolini’s fascist regime, he developed a theory of hegemony that revealed how ruling classes maintain power not only through force, but by shaping common sense—embedding capitalist values in everyday life, institutions, and culture. Gramsci insisted that revolutionaries must contest this terrain, building counter-hegemony through education, media, art, and grassroots organization. His emphasis on the “organic intellectual”—those who emerge from the working class to articulate its interests—remains vital for movements seeking to cultivate political consciousness from below. Though rooted in the Italian context, Gramsci’s ideas found deep resonance in anti-colonial and Pan-African struggles, where culture was—and remains—a site of both domination and liberation. For those seeking to overthrow not just regimes, but the worldview that sustains them, Gramsci offers a revolutionary blueprint: that power must be dismantled not only in the streets, but in the mind.

Supporting independent artists cultural workers under capitalism
Making independent art is not without its challenges. It is not cheap, easy, or quick, and it is often not valued in a material sense. However, artists still need to eat and pay rent.
Contemporary art, media and journalistic praxis, and cultural work more broadly are often exploited in building social movements, yet they are often unstable and precarious at best.
This project offers a free library of downloadable zines and other resources, and your support is appreciated! Right now, the project is not yet making enough money to cover the costs of making, printing, and shipping the materials but with your support we'll get there!
