Vilma Espín (11 x 17 poster print)
Vilma Espín was a dedicated revolutionary whose life embodied the intersection of feminist struggle, cultural renewal, and collective liberation. Deeply engaged in Cuba’s revolutionary movement against the Batista dictatorship, Espín emerged not merely as a symbol, but as an organizer tirelessly working to unite women, workers, and youth in their shared fight for justice. As the founder and leader of the Federation of Cuban Women, she transformed the role of women in Cuban society, emphasizing that liberation must include gender equality and cultural empowerment at its core. Espín saw clearly that social revolution required not only economic transformation but also the profound reshaping of relationships rooted in exploitation and patriarchy. Her life’s work continually reinforced the principle that true liberation must uplift and unite all oppressed people, a vision that extended far beyond Cuba’s shores, influencing revolutionary movements throughout the Global South.
