Patrice Lumumba was a visionary leader whose steadfast commitment to Congolese independence and Pan-African unity made him a powerful voice against colonial exploitation and imperialist domination. Lumumba understood deeply that political sovereignty must be matched by genuine economic liberation, insisting that Congo’s vast wealth belong not to foreign corporations, but to its people. Rising from humble beginnings, his clarity, courage, and eloquence mobilized the masses, instilling pride and collective consciousness among the oppressed. As Congo's first democratically elected Prime Minister, Lumumba openly defied imperialist forces, declaring boldly that true freedom required dismantling the legacy of colonial violence and building solidarity among African nations. His assassination, orchestrated by forces intent on preserving colonial interests, turned Lumumba into a lasting symbol of resistance—his legacy inspiring generations across Africa and beyond to continue the fight for genuine self-determination, dignity, and unity.

Supporting independent artists cultural workers under capitalism

Making independent art is not without its challenges. It is not cheap, easy, or quick, and it is often not valued in a material sense. However, artists still need to eat and pay rent.

Contemporary art, media and journalistic praxis, and cultural work more broadly are often exploited in building social movements, yet they are often unstable and precarious at best.

This project offers a free library of downloadable zines and other resources, and your support is appreciated! Right now, the project is not yet making enough money to cover the costs of making, printing, and shipping the materials but with your support we'll get there!
