Walter Rodney (11 x 17 Poster print)
Walter Rodney was a towering intellect and grassroots organizer who refused to separate scholarship from struggle. Through works like How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, he exposed the mechanisms of colonial plunder and capitalist exploitation with unmatched precision, revealing how underdevelopment was not a failure of African societies, but the deliberate result of imperial domination. Rodney dedicated his life to political education and organizing among workers, students, and the rural poor—first in the Caribbean and then across the African continent. He believed that revolutionary change would come not from elites, but through the collective awakening of the masses, armed with historical consciousness and a clear vision of liberation. For Rodney, theory was inseparable from action; he taught not from above, but alongside. His assassination at the hands of a neocolonial regime only underscored the threat he posed to the status quo. Yet his legacy continues to guide those committed to dismantling empire, reclaiming history, and building a future rooted in justice and self-determination.
