Yuri Kochiyama (11 x 17 Poster print)
Yuri Kochiyama was a revolutionary whose life embodied deep solidarity across struggles, refusing the boundaries that empire draws between people. A survivor of U.S. internment camps during World War II, she emerged from that injustice with a fierce commitment to anti-imperialism, joining movements that connected the liberation of Asian, Black, Indigenous, and Third World peoples. Kochiyama stood shoulder to shoulder with Malcolm X, supported political prisoners, and organized tirelessly against U.S. militarism, colonial occupation, and racist state violence. Her home became a hub for radical organizing, and her life was a constant reminder that solidarity must be practiced—not abstractly, but materially, consistently, and with humility. She believed that those most brutalized by empire held the keys to its undoing, and she worked to uplift their voices with care and discipline. Yuri Kochiyama’s legacy lives wherever people organize across differences to confront the root causes of oppression, and wherever love is expressed not only in feeling, but in political commitment.
